Meter down !!!

The valley The valley, originally uploaded by Sarfraaz.

Adnan Sami's rendered song, Meter down .. down down down da down .. is definately one song that is gonna last for a long time spinning in my head ... The Nana effect in the song picturization, and the easy go lyrics make it very catchy and hummable.

I wouldnt be wrong in saying that, it was this song and the sneaky promos, about the unusual pairing of Nana with John that compelled me to watch this movie, "Taxi no. 9211". The story narration was something very good, very much like a story being told to you. The circumstances were very much close to being real, nothing much artificial. The peppy dialogues being down to earth, and so very mumbayya style was pleasant to the ears. The story basically revolves around 2 very egoistic men who see the world from diametrically opposite sides, belong to society's opposite halfs, but have the same way of doing things ... being just brutally short tempered, and pessimistic. The sparks that result from two alikes clashing against eachother were bound to happen, but somethings shown in the movie get dragged down a bit .. but then thats fine ... Some dialogues said in the movie are very good and stand out loud. Especially the dialogues where Sonali Kulkarni [ she looks soooo much like a properrrrrrr Maharashtrian wife ] fights with Nana and shows him what a mean person he is. The ending again is more filmy, but after watching so much hatred and dark shades of the characters in the movie, its kinda pleasant to go out with a cheerful face.

One thing, that i wont forget about this movie, is definately the song shown after the end of the movie :) ... All the people in the movie hall, realised that the movie is over and get up to walk out, when the hit number "Meter down" starts showing up on the screen. A slow murmer runs in the hall and everyone gets back to their seats and watches the song :-) .. This is definately something new happening in the movies these days. A hit, peppy number shown in all the promos, not necessarily part of the movie, is shown either at the start of the movie, or at the end of the movie to have the audience engaged and waiting. Its definately a good trend in hindi cinema.

One another movie that i watched with the same gimmick was "Bluffmaster" ... The bachchan Jr rap song "Right Here, Right Now", was shown after the end of the movie. The only difference was that, not many people waited for the song, but i did. This was another song, i have been humming a lot these days, before the "meter down" number hit me. And incidentally, Bluffmaster was another Nana movie i watched which was really good. Nana seems to have a made a very good come back with a very new look for himself. Even in "Ab tak chappan", he stands apart as a police officer who takes the revenge of his wife's murder. Wonderful story line and beautiful movie. Watched it thrice already :) .. Coming back to bluffmaster, Abhishek has definately done good acting in this movie, though at times you get a feeling that he hasnt given his 100% to it, and you find being very bored in the scenes. Apart from that, the movie itself is a nice watch. Especially, after the interval, when Nana enters the scenes, the movie lifts itself up. There is one very good thing said in this movie by Bomman Irani to Abhishek's character, which i kinda liked a lot. He says,

"try remembering the number of days in your life, that you think are memorable. Something like, the first time you drove your bicycle, the first time you stood first in school, the first time you lost something, the first time you accomplished something ... whats the number of days you can come up with in these 27 years of your life ?? 15 ?? 20 ?? 40 ?? ... why dont you live the remaining 15 days of your life with so much passion, that you make all these 15 days count :-)"

quite philosophical, but defintely worth giving it a thought ...

What kept me worried was the ending. Always hoping that they dont falter down the lines at the end. Fortunately, they didnt mess it up in the end, and infact, it was the climax that made the movie look good. I cant stop myself from saying that, Nana was literally outstanding in this movie, especially in the last scene where you will find him sitting on the roof top ... damn hillarious thing !!!
